An annual highlight is of course the huge fireworks at the Brandenburg Gate, which hopefully will finally inspire thousands of Berliners and visitors to Berlin again on New Year's Eve 2023/2024, as well as millions of people in front of the television screens. Of course, the traditional giant event is not the only way to spend New Year's Eve in Berlin. Numerous clubs, bars, discos and other locations are just waiting for you and your friends and relatives. Anyone who thinks of celebrating New Year's Eve in Berlin will certainly associate the Brandenburg Gate with the celebration of the turn of the year 2023/24. No other place in the Federal Republic has such a great attraction as being in the heart of Berlin. The two-kilometre-long party mile attracts around one million visitors every year and is a popular meeting place for young and old alike. In particular, the famous countdown just before midnight and the colorful play of colors with over 6,000 fireworks not only encourage locals, but also countless tourists to celebrate New Year's Eve in Berlin. But the relaxed atmosphere and encounters with very different people also make celebrating New Year's Eve in Berlin so attractive. As one of the largest New Year's Eve parties in the world, the mega-event at the Brandenburg Gate also represents a cosmopolitan and cheerful Berlin.
But it is not only there that the diversity of the hip party metropolis is evident: many clubs make celebrating New Year's Eve in Berlin a real experience with a party program for thousands of guests. If you prefer to start the new year in a relaxed and culinary way, you will of course also get your money's worth.
Celebrating New Year's Eve in Berlin: Brandenburg Gate program 2023/24
On Monday, December 30th, the celebration mile between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column will open its doors for the first time. The first music rehearsals can be admired between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. On Saturday, December 31, admission is also possible from 12 p.m. If you don't want to stand in front of closed gates later, you should visit the site five or six hours before the gigantic fireworks. There is no on-site parking. The nearest public stops are in Tiergarten, Bellevue, Friedrichstrasse, Kochstrasse and Potsdamer Platz. In order not to endanger the safety of all party guests, glass bottles and alcohol must be left at home, as well as firecrackers and sharp objects.
The stage program starts at 7 p.m., with live bands and DJs heating up the crowd. National and international acts do the honors. Although the program for the 2023/24 New Year's Eve celebrations in Berlin will not be announced until December, last year's artists promise a varied evening. Laser and light animations will also provide the right ambience in 2022, finger food from all over the world will provide the necessary delicacies.
Incidentally, the big New Year's Eve celebration in Berlin can also be followed on the screen: from 9.45 p.m., ZDF will broadcast its live program "Welcome 2023". After the atmospheric high point of the evening, it's far from over: from 12:30 a.m., the DJs invite all dance-mad guests to an open-air party with an open end.
Celebrating New Year's Eve in Berlin is inexpensive
Of course, Berlin has more options than the Brandenburg Gate to celebrate New Year's Eve. While most clubs put together an all-inclusive offer at the turn of the year, there are also some locations with a pure party ticket. For example, you can first welcome the new year for free at the Brandenburg Gate and then continue partying nearby in a warm club. A buffet or drinks are not included in these tickets.
